The Kingfield/New Portland Transfer Station’s burn pile is now open. A Consumer Confidence Report for 2012 from the New Portland Water Department has been posted under the heading “Departments” in the “Utilities” category on the websites home page. There is a Notice of a Public Hearing that has been called by the Somerset County’s Budget Committee on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 7:00pm in the Superior Court Room on the 2nd floor of the County courthouse, at 41 Court Street in Skowhegan. There will be a copy of the proposed Budget on our website. The Town Office will be closed on May 27, 2013 in observance of Memorial Day. Everyone have a safe and happy holiday. The burn pile at the Kingfield/New Portland Transfer Station will be closed until further notice. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you and Have a great day. This will take place on May 31, 2013 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. There will also be refreshments to be served as well. The updated New Portland tax maps are up now under Town Reports. If you are interested in how the school budget is spending your tax dollars please attend a public hearing on the matter Thursday, May 2nd at 6:00 pm in the Carrabec High School Cafeteria. I would like to announce that starting May 1 the front office will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is a trial basis for SUMMER HOURS of operation. I am a salary position, so this will not be an added expense to the town in any way. I am trying these hours for the residents of New Portland as an added convenience for those in need of better times to conduct business at the Town Office. Thursdays office hours will still be2:00 pm to 7:00 pm as well as the first Saturday of the month from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (except holiday weekends).
