On Sunday, December 1st from 4pm – 5pm there will be horse drawn wagon rides and Christmas caroling.
5pm – 6pm is the Community Dinner. Prime rib, potatoes & gravy, a vegetable, and a roll will be served. For dessert there will be brownie sundaes being served.
The Giving Tree is now up at the Town Office. We will be taking donations up to December 19th, so that there is time to get them wrapped and brought to the families. We greatly appreciate all donations that are made and a big thank you to those who have already donated. We are hoping to have another successful year.
There will be an Assessor’s Work Session on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 9:00am and is being held at the town office.
The public is welcome to attend, however, there will be no public input during this work session.
The Board of Assessment Review will be holding an appeals board hearing on October 29th at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Fire Station. At 6:00 p.m. The Board of Assessment Review will be conducting a public meeting to elect it’s officers at this same location. All are welcome to attend both the meeting and the hearing.
The Kingfield/New Portland Transfer Station seeks a motivated individual to help with the operation of the solid waste and recycling facility. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Transfer Station Manager. Must be willing to assist citizens and have the ability to operate equipment safely. Must maintain effective working relationship with the Public and Town employees. This position is 12 hours a week year round with mandatory 4 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday. The New Portland Recreation Committee is hosting a Fall Festival with activities on October 19th from 11am to 2pm at the Fire Department. Some of the activities will be horse drawn wagon rides, face painting, pumpkin painting, doughnut catching, pumpkin seed spitting contest, apple pie baking contest, scarecrow contest (fill out a form for scarecrows at the town office),fry pan throwing contest and a pumpkin jump house.There will also be FREE food generously donated by the New Portland Firemen’s Association for all who attend.
Kristina Earle will also be available for fall picture sessions for a fee.
The Town Office will be closed on October 14th in observance for Columbus Day.
