Public Meeting For Cost Share Referendum
February 25, 2016 at 6pm at Carrabec High School located at 160 North Main Street in Anson.
The Public Hearing will be conducted on the following article, which will be the subject of a Referendum Vote on Tuesday, March 15th.
Article 1: Do you favor changing the method of sharing costs among the municipalities in Regional School Unit #74 from the Current Method to the New Method, and implementing the New Method over 2 years, as set forth below?
The current method of Cost Sharing is:
45% based on fiscal capacity (valuation)
55% based on resident pupils
The New Method of Cost Sharing
(In fiscal year 2016-2017)
35% based on fiscal capacity (valuation)
65% based on resident pupils
(In fiscal year 2017-2018 and thereafter)
25% based on fiscal capacity (valuation)
75% based on resident pupils
With all that being said, please come out and vote. If this New Method passes this will lower what New Portland needs to pay to the district. If you can not make it to vote on Tuesday, March 15th between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm absentee ballots are being issued if requested until Match 10th.
